OWINGS MILLS, MD—A vehicle explosion in Baltimore County has left one person dead, police said on Wednesday.
At just before 2 p.m. on August 29, 2023, members of the Baltimore County Police Department responded to the Northwest Regional Park, located in the 4500-block of Deer Park Road (21117), for a report of a vehicle fire.
Detectives determined that an explosion had occurred in the interior of the vehicle. As a result, the operator, 46-year-old Abayomi Adeleye, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of death is pending review by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Detectives from the Baltimore County Fire & Explosion Investigation Team are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
