Officer shot several times with rifle, carjacked prior to wanted suspect’s arrest in Fallston

TOWSON, MD—Police in Baltimore County have provided additional details on the overnight manhunt that led to the arrest of a wanted suspect in Fallston early Friday morning.

At around 5:45 a.m. on February 10, David Linthicum, 24, was taken into police custody in Harford County. Linthicum was wanted in connection with two separate shootings, each involving a Baltimore County police officer.

The second shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday night after a Baltimore County detective encountered Linthicum walking along Warren Road near Bosley Road in Cockeysville. The detective was patrolling the area in reference to the Linthicum manhunt.

When the detective engaged with Linthicum, the suspect produced a rifle and began shooting at the detective, striking him multiple times. The wanted subject then stole the injured officer’s patrol vehicle.

Linthicum then bailed out of the vehicle shortly after crossing into Harford County in the 2300-block of Belair Road in the Fallston area. Members of law enforcement took the suspect into custody around 5:45 a.m.

The Baltimore County police detective remains in Shock Trauma where he is being treated. Linthicum is now in the custody of the Baltimore County Police Department.

On behalf of the people of Baltimore County, thank you to (the Baltimore County Police Department), (the Harford County Sheriff’s Office), and all our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners for their efforts to successfully apprehend this dangerous suspect who is now in custody,” said County Executive Johnny Olszewski on Friday morning. “Our unwavering gratitude and heartfelt prayers remain with our officers injured in the line of duty, and with all their families and loved ones. I also again thank all our residents for their continued patience, support, and cooperation amid this trying and troubling incident.”
