UPDATE 2 (10:00 a.m.): The gas leak has been secured and the building has been deemed safe. Staff and students have re-entered the school. Fire department crews have cleared the scene.

UPDATE (9:40 a.m.): The Baltimore County Fire Department and BGE are investigating a malfunctioning natural gas line.  The school remains evacuated.

ESSEX, MD—Hazmat crews are responding to Eastern Tech on Tuesday morning.

At just before 9 a.m., units were dispatched to the Mace Avenue school after receiving reports of a natural gas odor throughout the premises.

The school is currently being evacuated.

There has been no word on any injuries.
