BCPS math teacher to be honored as Maryland STEM Educator of the Year

OWINGS MILLS, MD—A Baltimore County Public Schools teacher will soon be receiving a special honor.

Anthony Calise, a math teacher at Owings Mills High School, has been named the STEM Educator of the Year by the Maryland Tech Council.

The award, sponsored by AstraZeneca, will be given to Calise at the 36th Annual Industry Awards Celebration on May 23 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Rockville.

Calise, who has been teaching with BCPS for more than 23 years, began teaching at Lansdowne High School before moving to Owings Mills. In addition to teaching for Baltimore County Public Schools, Calise also teaches at Anne Arundel Community College, Loyola University Maryland, CCBC, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.

He was named one of the top 10 college professors in the nation by Best Value Schools in 2020.
