Fatal bus crash on I-95 in Harford County leaves 1 dead, 23 injured

BELCAMP, MD—Maryland State Police are actively investigating a bus crash that left one person dead and several others injured on Interstate 95 in Harford County on Sunday morning.

At just after 6:00 a.m. on May 5, police responded to the scene of a single bus crash on northbound I-95 just before the MD 543 exit in Belcamp. Authorities say a party bus carrying 24 people was traveling northbound on I-95 when, for unknown reasons, the bus lost control and struck a guardrail.

One passenger from the bus was pronounced dead at the scene and several other passengers were injured.  A total of 23 patients were transported to area hospitals, seven in serious condition according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

All northbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 77 were shut down for several hours.  The crash is being investigated by the Maryland State Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, and the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim has not yet been identified.
