Juvenile arrested, charged in connection with Edgewood shooting that injured Rosedale man

EDGEWOOD, MD—A 17-year-old juvenile is in police custody after being charged in connection with a shooting in Edgewood earlier this month.

At just after 9 p.m. on January 17, deputies with the Harford County Sheriff;s Office were dispatched to Harford Square Drive at O & P Court for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a 22-year-old Rosedale man suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. The victim was transported by Maryland State Police Medivac helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition.

Detectives were then able to identify a suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained charging the suspect with attempted first-degree murder.

On Friday, February 2, detectives executed a search warrant and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Detectives also located a loaded firearm that was seized.

The suspect was transported to the Harford County Detention Center and is awaiting an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.  While motive of the shooting remains under investigation, a backpack containing marijuana was discovered in the victim’s car where he was shot.

The investigation is ongoing and additional suspects are being sought.  No further information will be released at this time.
