Third meeting of Central Area Elementary School Capacity Relief Boundary Study group to meet Thursday

TOWSON, MD—The committee charged with examining central area elementary school attendance areas will convene for its third meeting this week. The meeting is the third of five committee sessions and two public information sessions planned for this fall and winter.

The meeting will take place 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023 in the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology cafeteria.  The meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube.

The study seeks to evaluate boundary options and relieve schools projected to be overcrowded, as well as to maximize the use of available space at elementary schools in the region. The study’s scope will include 19 central-area elementary schools.

Schools participating in the study include Carroll Manor, Cromwell Valley Regional Magnet, Halstead Academy, Hampton, Jacksonville, Lutherville Laboratory, Mays Chapel, Oakleigh, Padonia International, Pine Grove, Pinewood, Pleasant Plains, Pot Spring, Rodgers Forge, Riderwood, Stoneleigh, Timonium, Warren, and West Towson elementary schools.

The committee meetings, all from 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursdays at Carver Center, continue on Jan. 4, and Jan. 25. The public information sessions on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Cockeysville Middle School, and on Thursday, Nov. 16, at Loch Raven High School, will be held from 7-8 p.m. to consider data and to collect public feedback and option preferences.

The committee welcomes the public to attend all committee meetings or to view the meetings online. Wednesday’s meeting will be livestreamed as well.
