Maryland flag lowered to half-staff on Saturday to honor former Delegate Horne

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Saturday, April 9, 2022.

The flag is being lowered on honor of the day of interment for former State Delegate William S. Horne, who passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022.

As a delegate, Horne chaired the Eastern Shore Delegation, the House Judiciary Committee and the Joint Oversight Committee on Juvenile Service Initiatives. He kept a focus on justice throughout his tenure in the legislature, serving as co-chair of the Task Force on Drunk and Drugged Driving and as a member of the Task Force on Crime and the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee, according to The Star Democrat.

Horne was appointed as a county administrative judge to the Talbot County Circuit Court in 1989. He became the county’s chief judge in October 2003 and served in that role until January 2006.
