NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of Baltimore County and for Baltimore City.
The watch will be in effect until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop along the central and upper Chesapeake Bay coastal areas on Tuesday morning and persist into Tuesday afternoon as the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred approach the region.
Forecasters say these thunderstorms may be capable of producing 2 to 4 inches of rain per hour.
This much rain in a short amount of time may result in rapid rises on streams and creeks and in urbanized and poor drainage areas.
Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
