Ice Storm Warning expanded, road conditions worsening

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service has expanded Saturday’s Ice Storm Warning northward.

While Baltimore County remains under a Winter Weather Advisory, the Ice Storm Warning now includes Anne Arundel County.

Local road conditions were deteriorating rapidly on Saturday afternoon.

Several crashes have been reported throughout the Baltimore area, including a serious crash with heavy entrapment on East Joppa Road in White Marsh.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Maryland State Police responded to 57 crashes, 16 disabled/unattended vehicles, and answered 364 calls for service.

Snow emergency plans are in effect in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, & Worcester counties.

The freezing rain is expected to change over to sleet within the next hour or so and should continue until Sunday morning.

Residents are encouraged not to drive unless absolutely necessary.
