BGE transformer to roll through Harford County Monday night

FALLSTON, MD – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) and Maryland State Police (MSP) will assist Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) with a big move on Monday, June 17th.

The convoy, led by BGE’s private contractor, Riggers, Inc., will travel between Belcamp and Fallston.

Weather permitting, the oversized vehicle and a support crew will depart Riverside Industrial Park on Brass Mill Road at 10 p.m. and proceed along the following route: Southbound Brass Mill Road to northbound MD 543 (Creswell Road) to westbound MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) to northbound MD 152 (Mountain Road) to southbound MD 147 (Harford Road) to BGE’s substation on Harford Road (just south of the MD 152 / MD 147 intersection). The convoy will travel at 20 mph, slowing to 5 mph at bridges and signalized intersections.Abing

Due to the combined weight of the vehicle and the transformer, MDOT SHA will temporarily close the MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) Bridge over Haha Branch (south of Abingdon Road) beginning at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 18.The closure is necessary for the transport team to install a temporary “Jump Bridge,” which is designed to carry a heavier load.

Local travelers will be able to access homes and businesses north and south of the bridge. Through travelers on MD 7 between MD 543 and MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) may use either I-95 (John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway) or US 40 (Pulaski Highway) as alternative routes to MD 7.
