David Marksby Councilman David Marks

For much of the past week, I have focused on the situation at Perry Hall High School. I do want to comment on recent developments regarding former School Superintendent S. Dallas Dance and the need for greater accountability within the Baltimore County Public School system.

As I said in November, disclosure is at the core of our system of ethics requirements. Former Superintendent Dance’s actions–as described in the State Prosecutor’s report–were appalling and inexcusable.

Moving forward, I join my colleagues in supporting an independent audit of the school system’s contracts and procurement policies. I hope that upcoming elections for the Board of Education – a reform I have supported since my first year in office – will bring a new standard of accountability to Baltimore County Public Schools.
