Fire reported at Franklin Square Hospital

UPDATE 4: A hospital employee has been arrested and charged in connection with setting these fires.

UPDATE 3: Additional fires were reported at Franklin Square on Sunday morning.

UPDATE 2: Units are clearing the scene and working to determine what caused the fire.

UPDATE: The fire has been extinguished. Patients in the unit have been sheltered in place. Crews are working on ventilating the area.

ROSEDALE, MD—Crews are on the scene of a Saturday afternoon two-alarm fire in Rosedale.

The fire was reported at around 3:15 p.m. at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, located in the 9000-block of Franklin Square Drive (21237).

Arriving units found a fire in the hospital’s third floor trash room in the COVID unit.

Crews from the Baltimore County Fire Department, White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company, Providence Volunteer Fire Company, and other departments are on the scene.

There has been no word on any injuries.

Motorists should use caution in the area.
