TOWSON, MD—The Baltimore County Fire Department has promoted one of its members.

Fire Chief Joseph Dixon has announced the promotion of paramedic Carlos Velez to the rank of EMS Lieutenant.

The promotion to EMS Lieutenant, is significant, as Velez will transition into the first officer rank and leadership role of an EMS officer in the Department. Velez will now begin to lead crews, learn the roles and responsibilities of an EMS officer, and serve in their respective geographical areas or within the EMS administration.

The promotion will be effective as of August 23rd.
