Driver rescued after tractor-trailer flies off of I-695, over embankment in Towson

TOWSON, MD—Crews responded to a serious crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-695 in the Towson area early Wednesday morning.

Units responded to the crash along the inner loop just past the Loch Raven Boulevard exit to find that a tractor-trailer had driven off the highway and down an embankment, with the driver trapped inside.

It took crews from Providence Volunteer Fire Company, Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, and the Baltimore County Fire Department several hours to free the trapped driver due to the complex nature of the accident and the challenging location of the tractor-trailer.

The driver was then transported to a nearby hospital.  There has been no word on his condition.
