BALTIMORE, MD—Thick haze is moving into Baltimore County and Harford County as of Saturday morning.
Smoke from wildfires in New Jersey and Canada has prompted a Code Orange Air Quality Alert in the Baltimore area and a Code Red in Harford and Cecil counties.
Haze is expected to intensify throughout the day before rain showers begin to clear things out on Saturday evening.
Air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
An Air Quality Alert means that fine particulates concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.
