BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Forest Service has released new data that shows a significant increase in the number of wildfires in the state in recent years. According to the Annual Wildland Fire Report, 199 wildfires were recorded in Maryland in 2023, burning a total of 4,483 acres of land. Crews battle brush fire in Joppa

JOPPA, MD—Crews battled a brush fire in Joppa on Friday evening. The fire was reported on February 16 in the 2400-block of Taylor Brook Lane. Units from Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company, and Fallston Volunteer Fire Company were able to contain the blaze before it could extend to any homes.
