The letter sent out to Nottingham Middle School parents and guardians from the Principal reads as follows:

Dear Parents and Guardians of Nottingham Middle School,

I want to make you aware of an incident that occurred today during dismissal. This afternoon, two students were involved in a physical altercation. The altercation quickly grew and a large number of students got involved at which point one student was stabbed in the leg by another student. Administrators were outside at the time and immediately responded to separate the students. Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to provide care to the injured student and Our School Resource Officer (SRO) and School Safety Manager also responded to the scene to provide additional support. This incident is under investigation and any student found to be involved will receive serious consequences aligned with the Student Handbook and board policy.

I want to remind our students that fighting in schools will not be tolerated. It is dangerous and extremely disruptive to the school operations. We will take swift disciplinary action and may refer students to law enforcement. In addition, it is our goal to help students understand the larger impact their actions have on others. We encourage our students to speak with a trusted adult when they have conflict with another student.

Additionally, I want to reiterate that weapons are strictly prohibited on school property. Students who are found to be in possession of such dangerous items will receive serious consequences and may be referred to law enforcement for further action.

I want you to be assured that our focus is on providing a safe environment that is conducive to learning and that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
