“The school counselors in BCPS are vital to ensuring the academic progress, personal growth, and overall well-being of our students, and they contribute significantly to the school counseling profession,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers in a statement. “The annual awards from the Baltimore County Association of Counseling and Development are one way we can thank these tireless professionals for the daily care and superior services they provide to support our students.”

Adel Boyd, Sandalwood Elementary School, was recognized for her leadership in social-emotional learning, which the school says has helped cultivate a culture of emotional safety and care at the school. Boyd’s social-emotional learning leadership created a culture of emotional safety and care, resulting in zero suspensions this school year.

Morgan Snodderly, Woodlawn Middle School, was recognized for leading key initiatives on the school’s Mental Health and Restorative Practice teams that have become models for other schools, as well as designing advisory lessons schoolwide and facilitating staff professional development. Snodderly also coordinates impactful mentoring programs, like Black Boy Joy & Genius and Beautiful Butterflies, that champion student growth and empowerment.

Megan Fiorito, Woodlawn High School, leads a large department, mentoring new counselors and hosting interns. She collaborated with executive directors and principals to develop BCPS’s College and Career Readiness planning template, now used across the district.
