NOTTINGHAM, MD—A longtime Perry Hall White Marsh recreational council coach and leader has passed away.

On May 3, 2024, Joseph Terrence Nolan, known as Terry, passed away while surrounded by family after an eight-year battle with cancer. Terry was born on August 6, 1952, and was a lifelong resident of Baltimore. He was the beloved husband of Lynn; devoted father to Katie and Bridget and her husband Kyle; loving brother to Mike and his wife Susanne; and the dear son-in-law of Charles Little. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret, his brothers Larry and Kim, and his mother-in-law Marilyn Little.
Terry was a truly exceptional person with a zeal for life, a passion for adventure, and a dedication to giving more than he received. In addition to being a loving husband, an exceptional father, and a devout Orioles fan, Terry was a passionate coach and advocate for youth soccer. His coaching career started in Columbia, Maryland, during the 1970s, and he spent the last 31 years building and leading the Perry Hall White Marsh recreational soccer league and the Baltimore Union soccer club. The legacy and lasting impact of his dedication to the Baltimore soccer community cannot be overstated. Those who were fortunate enough to know Terry understand the absolute force of positive energy he projected to those around him. He will be deeply missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Terry’s life on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 2-4 PM or 7-9 PM at Schimunek Funeral Home in Nottingham (9705 Belair Road). A memorial service will be held at the same location starting at 4 PM. Terry’s family encourages friends from the soccer community to honor Terry’s love for coaching by attending the 7-9 PM session and wearing their uniform or team gear.
