Suspect arrested after Facebook Marketplace exchange ends with armed robbery in Edgewood

EDGEWOOD, MD—Detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s charged a juvenile on Saturday morning in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Edgewood earlier this week.

At around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, deputies responded to an armed robbery in the 2200-block of Hanson Road. There, they made contact with the caller, who was the victim of an armed robbery during a transaction arranged through Facebook Marketplace for the purchase of a Playstation 5 console.

The victim stated he had arranged to meet the seller in the 2500-block of Hanson Road. The suspect entered the victim’s vehicle to complete the transaction. During the exchange, the suspect produced a matte black “carbon fiber” handgun, pointed it at the victim, and fled with the cash.

Later, a juvenile suspect was identified. On Friday, February 2, a warrant was executed by detectives. The suspect was taken into custody and several items, including a Playstation 5 console, a black backpack, a black hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, a black beanie, a pink medical face mask, a BB gun resembling a Glock (pictured below), and two cell phones were seized. The suspect was charged with armed robbery and first-degree assault. The suspect was transported to the Harford County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
