ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Wes Moore this week joined the Owings Mills Corporate Roundtable for a conversation about success and prosperity in Owings Mills, Baltimore County, and the entire state of Maryland. Chairman of the Owings Mills Corporate Roundtable and Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore Barak Hermann moderated the fireside chat at the Caves Valley Golf Club with approximately 75 attendees.
“In the coming legislative session, and always, we must move in partnership with leaders across the public and private sectors. By working together toward common goals, we can drive economic growth and unlock Maryland’s full potential,” said Gov. Moore. “I’m grateful for the partnership of the Owings Mills business community. I know that together, we will meet this moment and build a more vibrant economy that lifts all Marylanders.”
During the conversation, Governor Moore reflected on the Moore-Miller Administration’s major accomplishments of 2023. He highlighted the administration’s push to tackle child poverty, strengthen public safety, bolster Maryland’s economy, and create a first-in-the-nation Service Year option.
Governor Moore also discussed the challenges facing Baltimore County and how he plans to apply disciplined leadership at a time when the state is facing structural budget shortfalls.
The mission of the Owings Mills Corporate Roundtable is to facilitate a sense of community among the major employers who are significantly invested in the Owings Mills area. Members of the roundtable collaborate to support a diverse and inclusive Owings Mills community. Members include Caves Valley, Marriott, the Baltimore Ravens, Jewish Community Center, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Maryland Public Television, T. Rowe Price, and Stevenson University, among others.
Owings Mills has various major projects currently underway to continue driving economic success to the area. Metro Centre at Owings Mills, the transit oriented development surrounding the metro station just off of I-795, offers Class A commercial office space, retail space, and luxury apartment homes. The Centre has attracted two hotels; the local Baltimore County Library branch; an extension center for the Community College of Baltimore County; and the new headquarters for Element Fleet Management, which relocated to Metro Centre earlier this year.
Additionally, a dozen new businesses announced moves earlier this year into Mill Station, a 620,000-square foot redevelopment at the site of the former Owings Mills Mall, creating countless job opportunities and attracting consumers both locally and throughout Maryland.
