Retired Overlea man claims winning $50,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off

BALTIMORE, MD—The only explanation a retired Overlea man has for his recent moment of good fortune is “triple zeros.” The daily player thoroughly enjoys Maryland Lottery games and has won plenty of times over the years, but was left with a near-permanent smile after his recent $50,000 win.

“I woke up with triple zeroes on my mind,” the lucky winner explained. “So, the first thing I did was buy a few 0-0-0 Pick 3 tickets.” As he was leaving Jack’s Fine Food, located at 4519 Kenwood Avenue (21206), his attention was drawn to the retailer’s scratch-off display. “It was the $50,000 Cash game that I was seeing, but it was really just those three zeros that caught my eye.”

After scratching off the $20 game in the store, he ran the instant ticket through the prize-check scanner. The retiree told Maryland Lottery officials that he wasn’t surprised with the result.

“There they were, those triple zeros.”

Luckily for the Overlea resident, there was a $50 and a comma in front of those zeros.

According to the lucky winner, the blessings he has received in his life have allowed him to be there for his family, to be always available to help with anything they might need. This $50,000 top-prize win will allow him to continue this practice, he said.
