BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland State Prosecutor Charlton T. Howard III on Friday announced that charges were filed against a Nottingham resident, Francis G. Bagnall, for voting in the 2018 Maryland Gubernatorial General Election without having the legal authority to vote.
According to the charging documents, Bagnall was not a citizen of the United States when he cast a ballot in the 2018 election.
The charging documents also allege that Bagnall registered to vote in Maryland in 1996, misrepresenting his citizenship status and thereby fraudulently enabling him to vote in Maryland elections.
“Election integrity is of the utmost importance to the survival of our democracy,” stated Howard. “Our office will continue to investigate and take legal action as appropriate where an individual is alleged to have voted in Maryland without the legal authority to do so.”
