Councilman Marks opposes request for Baltimore County to sell 8-acre Middle River property

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Councilman David Marks on Wednesday said he would be opposed to a request for Baltimore County to sell a piece of land in Middle River.

According to Councilman Marks, there has been a request by a private party for the county to sell the eight-acre Bengies-Walters property along Eastern Avenue, east of Earls Road, as “surplus property” for a possible development.

“In Baltimore County, undeveloped land is becoming scarce,” said Marks on Wednesday. “As County Councilman, I’ve done my best to preserve land for new parks.”

“I am very concerned about the possibility of Baltimore County selling (this) property,” Marks added. “Let me be very clear…I have told the County Executive’s office twice now that I oppose selling this county-owned parkland for development. I will oppose any resolution that attempts to do so here.”
