Almost 43,000 still without power following Monday night’s storms

BALTIMORE, MD—BGE crews are working around the clock to restore power to those affected by Monday night’s severe storms.

As off 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, almost 43,000 residents in BGE’s coverage area are still without power.

The hardest hit areas were Carroll County, Baltimore County, and Harford County, there is widespread damage throughout the BGE service area. BGE crews have already restored service for 31,000 customers. The latest outage information, including total number and general locations, is available on the BGE.com outage map.



Over 30 poles along Route 140 in Westminster were broken by straight-line winds. The damage has impacted more than 10,200 customers. BGE crews are currently assessing the damage to determine a timeline for repair and customer restoration.

BGE officials are asking customers to report their outage in any of the following ways:

  • Online, at BGE.com
  • BGE’s free mobile app, available at the Apple Store or Google Play
  • Text message, to 69243
  • Phone, by calling 877-778-2222 and using the automated system
