Final phase of Route 40 project near Gunpowder Falls to begin on Sunday

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is nearing completion of the project, US 40/Pulaski Hwy Four Bridges over Gunpowder Falls and Little Gunpowder Falls between north of White Marsh in Baltimore County and south of Joppa in Harford County.

The State Highway Administration has rehabilitated the superstructure and widened the concrete bridge decks (riding surfaces) of eastbound and westbound US 40 – two bridges over Little Gunpowder Falls and two bridges over Gunpowder Falls.

Final asphalt paving work on US 40 within the project limits will begin August 6 and the entire project will be complete late summer, weather permitting.

The project also included replacement of two lanes of concrete pavement on westbound US 40 approaching the Joppa Farm Road intersection, this work was completed in late July 2023.
