Man convicted in connection with 2021 Rosedale double murder

BALTIMORE, MD—Antowan S. Clark, 44, on Friday was convicted on two counts of first-degree murder in Baltimore County Circuit Court.

On March 31, 2021, officers with the Baltimore County Police Department were called to the 5500-block of Lanham Way in Rosedale for a report of shots fired.

When the police arrived, they found Antowan Clark at the driver’s side door to a vehicle. Inside the car were the bodies of Nyatiaha Faltz, 42, and her 19-year-old son, Grantley Herbert. Both had been repeatedly shot.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Faltz had been in a dispute with Clark and had told him to leave her house. Later in the evening, Faltz came home from dinner with her son Grantley, a 13-year-old nephew, and an 8-year-old niece and discovered Clark had not left the home. When Grantley Herbert entered the house, Clark pulled out a handgun and shot him. Herbert fled from the home and back to the car. Clark pursued him. Antowan Clark then fired repeatedly into the car, striking Faltz five times and Herbert twice more.  The 8-year-old girl was shot in the leg as she was being protected by Grantley Herbert.

Clark was placed under arrest at the scene. All of the shooting victims were rushed to area hospitals. The 8-year-old girl survived and testified at the trial.  Faltz and Herbert were pronounced dead at Franklin Square Hospital shortly after their arrival.

States Attorney Scott Shellenberger offered his appreciation to the Baltimore County Police Department for their excellent response and work on the case and stated- “my thoughts are with the extended family of the victims of this brutal and outrageous crime.”

The jury convicted Clark of two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, one count of first-degree assault, and weapons chages.

A sentencing date has not been set. The Defendant faces a possible sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
