NOTTINGHAM, MD—Two retiring longtime Baltimore County recreation leaders were recognized on Wednesday.

Shawn Sprole is retiring after 33 years with the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks and Ed Beranek is the longtime president of the White Marsh Recreation Council.

Councilman David Marks presented citations to both men on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

Beranek was was instrumental in the purchase of the Gerst Road Park, according to Councilman Marks.

Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks director Robert Smith (pictured at right above) was also present for Wednesday’s recognition.
