ROSEDALE, MD—Two men have been convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the killing of a father and son in Rosedale in 2021.
Ameer Gittens, 26, and Derrick Jamison, 27, were both convicted on Tuesday in Baltimore County of the first-degree murders of Christopher Walker and Justin Walker.
On October 11, 2021, Justin Walker, 24, agreed to give a ride to Gittens and Jamison from a convenience store in Rosedale. Justin Walker was with a friend at the time. Gittens and Jamison produced handguns, forced Justin Walker and his friend to take off all of their clothes, and stole their wallets and cellphones. The friend was forced into the trunk and duct-taped at the wrists, ankles, and mouth.
Gittens and Jamison then took Justin Walker to his home on Plainview Road in Rosedale and planned to rob Justin’s father. Their entry into the house was caught on a Ring surveillance video. After entering the house, Gittens and Jamison shot Justin’s father, Christopher Walker, eight times. Christopher Walker died as a result of the gunshot wounds. They then shot Justin once in the top of his head, causing Justin’s death.
Christopher Walker’s 83 year-old mother was present in the house at the time of the shootings and was confronted at gunpoint during the incident. Gittens and Jamison then fled in Justin Walker’s car. The friend was released completely unclothed in a residential area in Baltimore City later that night.
Homicide detectives were able to collect video from a number of different locations to identify both Gittens and Jamison and their interaction with Justin Walker. In addition, fingerprints of each were found in Justin Walker’s car. Ameer Gittens was arrested while in possession of one of the guns used in the killings less than a month later.
Both were convicted of first-degree murder, armed carjacking, home invasion, kidnapping, armed robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence. Each face the possibility of a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. The trial was before the Honorable Michael J. Finifter in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County. Judge Finifter has set sentencing for July 10, 2023.
