Forecasters warn of elevated fire danger in Baltimore area on Tuesday

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning of an elevated fire risk in the Baltimore area on Tuesday.

Westerly winds will gust up to 20 to 25 mph at times, especially during the mid to late afternoon. Relative humidity values will fall between 15 and 25 percent. Given recent dry weather, fuels are very dry.

An elevated fire danger will continue in the Baltimore area until around 8 p.m., when the winds should gradually weaken and humidity should rise.

Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged during this time. Residents should refer to local burn permitting authorities on whether to burn. Anyone who does burn should use extreme caution and ensure fire suppression is readily available.
