Governor Moore rallies U.S. House Democratic Caucus on patriotism in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD—Governor Wes Moore this week attended the U.S. House Democratic Caucus’ Issues Conference in Baltimore, rallying U.S. House Democrats on patriotism.

Under this year’s theme, “People Over Politics,” the governor and House Democrats welcomed Joe Biden to celebrate unity, delivering results, and defending democracy for the American people.

“Real patriotism isn’t about chanting or waving a flag around; it’s not about dishonoring election results in the name of democracy because you don’t like the result,” said Governor Moore. “Real patriotism means bringing people together. It means lifting each other up and improving each other’s lives; it means knowing that our country is great—and that if we do the work, it will be even greater.”

In his remarks, Governor Moore also highlighted the House Democrats’ service record, praising the historic, transformational legislation that Congressional Democrats passed over the past two years to provide aid and encouraging members to continue to fight to deliver for the American people. The governor also praised the historic diversity of the caucus, and recognized Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and leadership past and present for years of service to the country, to the state, and to Marylanders.

“We can deliver policy results that lift all of our communities—it’s not just about energizing the base, it’s about enlarging it, and that is my vision for Maryland,” said Governor Moore. “But more than that, that is my mission for our party—and it’s a mission I believe we share.”
