BALTIMORE, MD—With immigration reform remaining a hot-button issue in 2023 and senators attempting to craft a bipartisan bill, the personal-finance website WalletHub this week released its report on 2023’s Most & Least Ethnically Diverse Cities.
To identify the most ethnically diverse places in America, WalletHub compared more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities across three key metrics: ethno-racial diversity, linguistic diversity and birthplace diversity.
Four Maryland towns – Germantown, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Rockville – all made the top ten.

Key Stats
- Germantown, Maryland, has the highest racial and ethnic diversity, which is four times higher than in Hialeah, Florida, the city with the lowest.
- Hialeah, Florida, has the highest concentration of Hispanic or Latino people, at 95.82 percent.
- Brattleboro, Vermont, has the highest concentration of white people, at 94.34 percent.
- Jackson, Mississippi, has the highest concentration of black people, at 82.59 percent.
