BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is performing pavement patching and resurfacing work on three highways in central Baltimore County.

The projects, all expected to be complete by late fall, weather permitting, will improve the driving surface along each roadway.

The following roads will be improved:

  • I-695 West (Outer Loop) between MD 146 (Dulaney Valley Road) and I-83 South (Jones Falls Expressway): Pavement patching is underway with overnight single- and double-lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings. The $400,000 project is being performed by Gray and Son Inc., of Timonium.
  • MD 542 (Loch Raven Boulevard) between Taylor Avenue and Joppa Road: Pavement patching will begin Thursday, September 22, with overnight single-lane closures and flagging operations between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings. Crews will use temporary signs, electronic arrow boards and barrels to alert and guide motorists through the work zones. Motorists should allow additional travel time to reach their destinations.

Beginning October 1, 2022, the Move Over Law in Maryland will require motorists to make a lane change or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing, or parked vehicle displaying hazard warning lights, road flares or other caution signals. The expanded law is in place to protect emergency responders and motorists who encounter a roadside emergency.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
