ZIP CODE REPORT: Maryland hospitalization curve remains flat as COVID-19 cases top 32,000

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health on Sunday reported that there have now been over 32,000 cases of the novel coronavirus in Maryland.

As of Sunday morning, there have been 32,587 COVID-19 cases in Maryland, an increase of 1,053 cases since Saturday.

There have been 1,538 related deaths, 5,955 total hospitalizations (1,640 currently hospitalized), 127,344 negative test results, and 2,293 individuals have been released from isolation.

Of Maryland’s 1538 deaths, 792 (or 51%) have been in congregate facility settings (nursing homes).

Baltimore County has confirmed 3,862 COVID-19 cases and and 175 deaths while Harford County has confirmed 605 cases and 21 deaths (editor’s note: “probable” deaths are not included in these totals).

Governor Larry Hogan last week indicated that Phase 1 of the Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery may begin soon if the hospital utilization curve continues to remain flat, as shown in the additional charts below.

Meanwhile, three members of the White House coronavirus task force, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, will self-quarantine after possible exposure to COVID-19, administration officials said on Saturday.
