ESSEX, MD – Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Essex on Sunday evening.

At just before 8:30 p.m., state troopers were dispatched for a report of a motorcycle crash on the inner loop of I-695 past Route 702.

The crash involved a 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

John H. Schell Jr., 61, of Sparrows Point, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcyclist lost control, traveled up an embankment, and then struck a pole.

Maryland State Police Crash are continuing their investigation.
