Authorities have identified a Bowleys Quarters man as the driver who was killed in a Sunday evenings crash in Phoenix.

Police say that, at just before 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling east on Paper Mill Road just past Poplar Hill Road crashed when it suddenly left the roadway and struck a tree.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, where they removed the driver from the vehicle and began life-saving efforts.

The driver was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver has been identified as Hugh Thomas Brown, 57, of Galloway Road in Bowleys Quarters (21220). Police have determined that Brown was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
