Police investigating several local robberies, burglaries

Police GraphicPolice are investigating several robberies and burglaries that have been reported so far this month.

At about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, an individual threw a rock through a window in the 9700 block of Magledt Road (21234).  The suspect then reached in, unlocked the window and opened it, setting off the alarm. The suspect fled the scene and no entry was gained.

At just after 1 .m. on Thursday, October 5, three individuals, one of whom was armed, approached a man in the area of Middle River Road and Compass Road (21220) and demanded the man’s property. The suspects stole his cash, cell phone, credit cards, keys, wallet, and then fled on foot.

At about 9 p.m. on Thursday, an armed man entered the Shell station located in the 9000 block of Belair Road (21236), asked for cigarettes, and demanded the cashier open the cash drawer. The suspect then took money from the drawer and fled the scene.

At just before 3:30 a.m. on Friday, October 6, two individuals gained entry via the rear door of the Giant located in the 7700 block of Harford Road (21234). The suspects stole four cases of crabmeat and then fled.

At about 11:40 a.m. on Friday, an individual broke into a home in the 2800 block of Placid Avenue (21234) via the garage door. While inside, the suspect ransacked the bedrooms and stole jewelry & cash.

At about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, an individual shoved a man in the arm in the area of Eastmet Way and Handworth Way (21236). Another suspect grabbed the man’s cell phone from his hand. The two suspects then fled.

At just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, a man approached another man in the area of Belair Road at Putty Hill Avenue (21236).  The suspect implied a weapon and attempted to steal the victim’s cash. The suspect ran from the scene and was arrested a short time later. No property was taken.

Nottingham cook wins $20K with Md. Lottery scratch-off

The culinary breakfast specialist found her lucky instant ticket when she stopped by the Nottingham Shell at 7533 Belair Road to get gas and buy $1,000 Frenzy scratch-offs. The $10 game is her favorite Maryland Lottery instant ticket.

After reaching home with three scratch-offs in hand, Sheila tried her luck.

“I noticed that the first two Frenzy tickets I had gotten weren’t winners,” she said. “As I began to scratch my third and final one, I got the shock of my life. The ticket was saying I won $20,000! I was just so amazed.”

Sheila said she immediately called her family to tell them the good news. She feels blessed about her win and plans to take a few family member and friends out to dinner. The rest of her prize will go toward bills and into savings, she said.

The $1,000 Frenzy instant scratch-off ticket came out in May. The popular scratch-off has five $100,000 top prizes, seven $20,000 and 14 $10,000 prizes available.

Parkville gas station robbed by man with shotgun

Shell Station Joppa RoadPolice are investigating after a Parkville gas station was robbed by a man armed with a shotgun.

At about 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, a man asked an employee to open the door to the Shell station located in the 2000 block of E. Joppa Road, 21234, so he could buy some snacks.

The suspect then produced a shotgun and told the victim to put cash into his bag.

The suspect then took the bag filled with cash and fled the scene.

Police have not released a description due to the ongoing investigation.

No one was injured in the incident.

Crime blotter: police investigate carjacking, assault, several robberies & burglaries

Police LightsIt’s been a busy week for the Baltimore County Police Department.  Detectives are currently investigating several crimes that were reported to the Parkville and White Marsh precincts over the past week.

White Marsh Precinct:

July 21: Robbery, 1700 block of Chesaco Avenue 21237

At 5:40 a.m., the victim was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects implied a gun, robbed the victim of his wallet and they then fled the scene.

July 22: Carjacking, 8600 block of Pulaski Highway 21237

At 9:40 a.m., the victim and the suspect engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated and the suspect pushed the victim out of the victim’s vehicle and drove off with the victim’s belongings. The suspect did not have permission to take the vehicle.

July 22 to 23: First Degree Burglary, 4500 block of Raspe Avenue 21206

Sometime between 2 p.m. and 6:54 p.m., a suspect or suspects used force to open the door to gain entry into the victim’s residence. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole electronic equipment and jewelry.

July 23: Robbery, 8600 block of Philadelphia Road 21237

Around 10:50 a.m., a suspect approached the counter at the Giant store, placed a shopping bag on the counter and demanded money, while implying he had a gun. The victim complied. The suspect was later found and arrested.

July 25: Robbery, 7900 block of Pulaski Highway 21237

At 4:50 a.m., two suspects forced their way into a hotel room and robbed two victims at gunpoint. The suspects demanded money, drugs, and cell phones. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.

July 26: Robbery, 8400 block of Philadelphia Road 21237

At 9:05 p.m., three suspects entered the Family Dollar store, robbed the cashier at gunpoint and snatched a customer’s purse. The suspects then fled.

Parkville Precinct:

July 21: First Degree Burglary, 1800 block of Dunwoody Road 21234

Sometime between 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., a suspect or suspects gained entry through an unlocked window. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole cash and electronic equipment.

July 21: First Degree Burglary, 2900 block of Willoughby Road 21234

At 8:20 a.m., the suspect entered the home through an unlocked door. Once inside, the suspect removed cash. When the suspect was approached by one of the residents, he pushed her and then fled.

July 24: First Degree Assault, unit block of Melken Court 21236

At 11:05 p.m., the victim was assaulted by two suspects. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle.

July 25: Robbery, 8900 block of Emla Avenue 21234

At 12:40 a.m., two suspects approached the victim with a knife and stole prescription medication, money and a gold necklace. The suspects left the location on bicycles.

July 25: First Degree Assault, 9200 block of Harford Road 21234

At 2:17 p.m., the victim pulled into the Shell gas station after being rear-ended by the suspect. The suspect exited his vehicle, began cursing and assaulted the victim. The suspect threatened to stab the victim and the victim then struck the suspect. The suspect retrieved a wrench and struck the victim. The suspect was arrested.
