Thunderstorms, snow showers expected on Christmas Eve in Baltimore

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch.

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Christmas Eve 2020 could be one to remember in the Baltimore area, weather-wise.

The National Weather Service says to expect thunderstorms, strong winds, and possibly even some light snow on Thursday.

Forecasters say there is an increased risk of flooding and wind damage later in the day Thursday and into Thursday night. Moderate coastal flooding is also possible.

A strong cold front will sweep through the region on Christmas Eve. The front will be accompanied by showers and thunderstorms, some producing heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds. Arctic air will rush in behind the front and could change the rain to a brief period of snow.

Slippery conditions are possible Thursday night as colder air moves in.

Residents should stay tuned to their local forecast.
