Victim in fatal Parkville crash identified

PARKVILLE, MD—Police have identified the man who was killed in a fatal crash in Parkville over the weekend.

At just before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, officers responded to the intersection of Oakleigh Road and Putty Hill Avenue (21234) for a report of a crash.

Police were able to determine that a 2006 Scion Xa was traveling south on Oakleigh Road, near Putty Hill Avenue, when the car struck the rear of a parked van.

The van was subsequently forced into the rear of a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu.

The Scion continued into the northbound lane of Oakleigh Road and struck the front of a 2010 Ford Fusion that was traveling north on Oakleigh Road.

The driver of the Scion was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Curtis Terrell Cooper, 39, of the 8600-block of Oakleigh Road (21234).

The driver and passenger inside the Ford Focus were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are continuing their investigation at this time.
