Crews are on the scene of a major, Tuesday afternoon water main break in Parkville/Carney.

The break occurred in the 9100-block of Summer Park Drive (21234).

The roadway has been compromised and a massive geyser of water has broken windows in nearby homes.  Shingles have also been forcibly blown off of some homes.

Baltimore County police and fire crews have responded and are shutting down the roadway.

The Department of Public Works in also being dispatched to the scene.

Motorists should avoid the area.
