Parkville stabbing being investigated as attempted robbery

Police CrimePolice now believe that a stabbing incident that occurred on the parking lot of Maria’s Carry Out on Thursday night was a targeted, attempted robbery.

An investigation has determined that the incident in the 1800-block of Taylor Avenue (21234)  occurred as the 36-year-old victim was getting into his vehicle in the corner of the parking lot at around 9:30 p.m.

The suspect entered onto the lot through a hole in the fencing, grabbed the victim’s cell phone from his hands, and threw him onto the ground. The suspect stabbed the victim in a lower extremity and reached into one of his pockets.

When the suspect found nothing, he began to rummage through the victim’s vehicle, apparently searching for cash, but finding none. The suspect fled the location on foot, possibly southbound on Beverly Avenue.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, but is expected to survive his wounds. The victim indicated that the suspect never checked his other pocket, which did have cash in it, so it is likely that the suspect saw the victim put cash into his pocket earlier.

The victim’s cell phone was located on the ground next to his vehicle during the initial phase of investigation.

Anyone who may have information on this suspect, only described as a tall black male with a baseball cap, possibly white and red shirt with dark colored pants, is asked to contact police at the Towson Precinct at 410-887-2361. Callers may remain anonymous.
