Police are investigating after a burglar broke into a Parkville home and assaulted a neighbor.

At about 9:15 a.m. on Monday morning, the suspect pried open the basement door to a home in the 8700 block of Summit Avenue.

The man then entered the home, cut the power to the house and stole  several items.

A neighbor who witnessed the suspect exiting the home was subsequently assaulted by the suspect.

The suspect then fled the scene of foot.

No additional details are available at this time.
