OWINGS MILLS, MD—Maryland Public Television is set to debut the third season of its original series, “Made in Maryland,” in October, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the state’s innovators and manufacturers.
The new season will feature three half-hour episodes airing on consecutive Wednesdays at 7 p.m., beginning Oct. 1. The series, co-produced with the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland, highlights companies and individuals who are driving technological advancements and creating jobs across the state.
The first episode, “State of Opportunity,” will air Oct. 1 and showcases three manufacturers committed to making a difference in their communities. It will feature Marra Forni in Beltsville, an immigrant-owned company that manufactures brick ovens; Acadia Windows & Doors in Rosedale, which partners with The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region to employ individuals with disabilities; and Baltimore-based Lifting Labels, which helps returning citizens find stable employment.
The following week, on Oct. 8, the episode “Taste of Home” will explore two iconic Maryland brands: J.O. Spice Company in Halethorpe and Berger Cookies in Baltimore. The episode will also highlight Citywide Youth Development, a Baltimore City nonprofit that uses manufacturing and entrepreneurship to empower local youth.
The season concludes on Oct. 15 with “Lifesavers,” which focuses on three companies that produce equipment for military personnel, first responders and essential workers. Viewers will see Ocean Craft Marine on Kent Island, which builds rigid-hull boats; Hardwire LLC in Pocomoke City, a manufacturer of armor and emergency response shields; and Dunlop Boots in Havre de Grace, a leading producer of protective footwear.
In addition to airing on MPT, episodes of “Made in Maryland” will be available for on-demand viewing through MPT’s online video player and the PBS app. Encore broadcasts will air on MPT2 on Thursdays at 11 p.m. from Oct. 2 through Oct. 16.
