BALTIMORE, MD—A Maryland Lottery player from Prince George’s County claimed a $1 million Powerball prize over the weekend, leading a wave of winnings that saw players across the state collect more than $31.2 million in prizes during the week of Sept. 8-14.
While the Powerball jackpot reset after a $1.787 billion prize was shared by winners in Missouri and Texas on Sept. 6, the local win demonstrates that substantial prizes are still up for grabs in every drawing.
In addition to the seven-figure prize, other big wins included a Gaithersburg player who won $311,795 on a FAST PLAY game. Two players also secured six-figure payouts, each winning $100,000 on scratch-off tickets sold in Frederick and Hebron.
In total, the Maryland Lottery paid out prizes on 43 tickets worth $10,000 or more during the week.
Lottery officials remind winners to sign the backs of their tickets and store them in a secure place. Draw game and FAST PLAY tickets must be claimed within 182 days of the drawing or purchase date, respectively. The expiration dates for scratch-off tickets are available on the Maryland Lottery website.
Prizes up to $600 can be redeemed at any Maryland Lottery retailer. For larger prizes, claiming instructions vary:
- Prizes up to $5,000: Can be claimed at any of the more than 400 Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) locations.
- Prizes up to $25,000: Can be claimed at the cashier window of any of Maryland’s six casinos.
- Prizes over $25,000: Must be redeemed by appointment at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore.
More information on how to claim prizes is available on the “How to Claim” page of the Maryland Lottery’s official website.
