Baltimore County player becomes millionaire as Powerball jackpot nears $1.7 billion

BALTIMORE, MD—A Powerball ticket sold in Baltimore County made one player a millionaire in Wednesday’s drawing, as the game’s jackpot swelled to an estimated $1.7 billion for the next drawing, according to the Maryland Lottery.

The ticket, sold at the Slade BP Gas Station at 524 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville, matched all five white balls but missed the red Powerball, securing a $1 million second-tier prize.

While no one nationwide hit the jackpot, the drawing also produced four third-tier winners in Maryland, each earning a $50,000 prize. These tickets, which matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball, were sold at the following locations:

  • Royal Farms, 7701 German Hill Road, Dundalk
  • Shoppers, 18066 Mateny Road, Germantown
  • Shoppers, 13600 Baltimore Avenue, Laurel
  • S&W Liquors, 7072 Allentown Rd, Temple Hills

The winning numbers for the Sept. 3 drawing were 3, 16, 29, 61, and 69, with the Powerball being 22.

The jackpot, now the third-largest in Powerball history, has been rolling since June 1. The estimated lump-sum cash option for the next drawing on Saturday, Sept. 6, is $770.3 million.

The current jackpot run has been a lucrative one for Maryland players, generating $12 million in prizes. This includes three $1 million winners, three $500,000 Double Play winners, four $150,000 winners, a $100,000 winner, and 21 winners at the $50,000 prize level.

The Maryland Lottery also reported significant revenue from the jackpot run, with $47.9 million in sales contributing an estimated $11.9 million to the state. Maryland retailers have earned $2.7 million in sales commissions.
