Southbound Jones Falls Expressway to close Saturday for Maryland Cycling Classic

BALTIMORE, MD—A major section of the Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) will close on Saturday to accommodate the Maryland Cycling Classic, an event that is expected to create heavy traffic and delays across downtown Baltimore.

The southbound lanes of the Jones Falls Expressway will be closed at the Maryland Avenue exit from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. All traffic will be detoured onto Maryland Avenue.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation warned motorists to expect significant congestion due to the cycling event, an Orioles home game, and a sold-out concert at CFG Arena. The Orioles are scheduled to host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:05 p.m. at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, while Benson Boone is slated to perform at CFG Arena at 8 p.m. Dream Theater will also be appearing in concert at The Lyric Baltimore at 8 p.m.

Fans attending the baseball game or concert are advised to use I-395 for travel to and from the venues, as it will not be affected by the cycling race.

Motorists are encouraged to allow for extra travel time and use alternate routes. An interactive map of all road closures and race routes is available on the Maryland Cycling Classic website.
