Baltimore County government, MTA announce Labor Day closures and modifications

TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County government offices and most Maryland public transit services will be closed or operating on a modified schedule for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025.

Baltimore County’s main offices, as well as its landfill and drop-off centers, will be closed. Additionally, CountyRide and Towson Loop Circulators will not be operating.

For residents, trash, recycling, and yard waste collection will not take place on Labor Day. All curbside collections scheduled for Monday will be moved to Tuesday, with subsequent collections shifted back by one day for the rest of the week. For example, Tuesday’s pickup will move to Wednesday, Wednesday’s to Thursday, Thursday’s to Friday, and Friday’s to Saturday.

Statewide, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will also have service changes:

  • MARC Train: No service.
  • Commuter Bus: Only Bus #201 will operate on its Weekend/Holiday schedule.
  • Bus, Light Rail, and Metro Subway: All will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule.

Baltimore County Public Libraries will also be closed on Monday. Normal operations for all services are expected to resume on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
