BALTIMORE, MD—As the Powerball jackpot nears three-quarters of a billion dollars, the Maryland Lottery announced two winners of $500,000 each on the game’s Double Play drawing and a $1 million scratch-off winner in Sparrows Point.
The two winning Powerball tickets were sold in Landover and Riverdale and remain unclaimed as of Monday, according to a Maryland Lottery press release. Both tickets matched the first five numbers drawn in the Double Play drawing, a separate drawing held after the main Powerball game for an additional $1. The winning tickets did not match the Powerball number.
A scratch-off player in Sparrows Point also became a millionaire playing the All About Cash game.
The prizes are part of nearly $29.8 million the Maryland Lottery paid out in the week of Aug. 18-24. That total includes 29 tickets worth at least $10,000.
Winners of prizes larger than $25,000, including the recent $500,000 and $1 million prizes, must claim their winnings by appointment at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore. Winners of smaller prizes can claim their money at various locations across the state.
The Maryland Lottery encourages all winners to sign the back of their tickets and keep them in a safe place. Draw game tickets expire 182 days after the drawing date.
