MTA cybersecurity incident affecting Mobility scheduling systems, real-time tracking

BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Transit Administration is experiencing a cybersecurity incident that is affecting its Mobility scheduling systems, the agency has announced.

The incident, which involves unauthorized access to certain systems, is preventing riders from booking new trips or rebooking existing ones through the Mobility service. Despite the disruption, all previously scheduled Mobility trips for the week will be honored.

The MTA, in coordination with the Maryland Department of Information Technology, is investigating the nature and scope of the incident. In a public service announcement, the MTA also noted that while Local Bus, Light Rail, and Metro Subway services are operating as scheduled, real-time tracking information is currently unavailable.

For riders who are eligible for the Mobility service and need to book a new trip, the MTA is directing them to the Call-A-Ride program, which can be accessed at https://www.mtacallaride.org or by calling (410) 664-2030. The agency also advised those with urgent medical needs to contact their healthcare provider or call 911 in an emergency.

In addition to the scheduling issues, the Metro Subway’s elevators are closed, and a shuttle bus is operating between stations to assist riders who cannot use the stairs or escalators. The MTA stated it is working to restore full service and appreciates riders’ patience.
